A few examples from my class…

I included a post from one of my students.  What I was pleased with was the voice in her writing and her ability to really engage with the blog concept in sharing her thinking.  I used her blog and a few others as examples to share with the other students to help encourage them to writing more in their blogs.

Midst between life and death…just kidding!

Right now, I am kind of in the midst of deciding what to do. I think I may want to do DIY’s or something with food. Very Original, I know. I would like to do DIY’s because I am pretty good at doing craftsy things and I find myself to be very creative.

With doing DIY’s there are a lot of people I could go to for help. I could go to various peers, my sisters, adults, and if all else fails I could go to online posts (such as pinterest or youtube)!

Although, I have always been passionate about food, I have always been able to find my way around in the kitchen. I also have quite a few people I could go to, to help me, such as: family, peers, teachers, adults, and there are various other sites I could go to for ideas.

Or maybe, I should combine the two, make crafts out of food, make mashed potato igloos, gingerbread houses, macaroni necklaces, etc.

At this early on in the project, with a lot of ideas, I hope I may come to a conclusion and start off my project fairly quickly. Who knows? Maybe this project may turn out to be more fun than I imagined.

Either way, Wish me luck!

This is a great example of collaborative learning in action. By sharing this student’s thoughtful blog post, this teacher is providing a model to students of how she would like them to write. In this way, students who struggle with literacy always have the examples of stronger students to turn to, and on which to model their own writing.
